University Health Network and University of Toronto

The Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medicine, University of Toronto’s Division of Medical Oncology and Hematology and Division of General Internal Medicine at the University Health Network is seeking to recruit energetic and innovative physicians to work as General Internists in the management of cancer patients.  Through close collaboration between these two divisions, the University Health Network is looking to transform the care of cancer patients across their disease trajectory.  The anticipated start date is September 1, 2018, or shortly thereafter.

The successful applicants will participate in both inpatient and outpatient aspects of clinical care.  Inpatient rotations would include time as the attending physician to cancer inpatients both at the Toronto General Hospital and/or the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre (PMCC) and would involve both daytime and nighttime coverage.  Outpatient experiences would include the PMCC Urgent Care Clinic, which currently supports outpatient clinics in the management of acute medical issues and the Procedure Clinic, where a variety of procedures such as lumbar punctures are provided.

The successful applicants will have demonstrated passion for the medical care of cancer patients as well as a strong interest in teaching and/or quality improvement.  Candidates should have completed training in Internal Medicine, General Internal Medicine, Hematology, Oncology or another relevant specialty.  Successful candidates must be eligible for a clinical academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor.  It is expected that candidates will be hired into the University of Toronto Clinician Teacher or Clinician Quality Improvement tracks; the successful candidate will be expected to devote approximately 80% of their time to clinical work with the remaining time allocated to academic work in the area of clinical care, teaching, or quality improvement.

Applicants must also be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and hold specialty certification in Internal Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent.  A highly attractive remuneration package is available and commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience.
