We are pleased to announce that Dr. Emily Austin has accepted a full-time appointment as Lecturer, Clinician-Teacher in the Division of Emergency Medicine, Department of Medicine.

Dr. Austin is currently staff in the emergency department at St. Michael’s Hospital. In addition, Dr. Austin works part-time in the Department of Paediatrics, Division of Emergency Services at the Hospital for Sick Children. She also takes call at the Ontario and Manitoba Poison Centre. Dr. Austin completed her residency in emergency medicine and subspecialty training in clinical pharmacology and toxicology at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Austin's clinical, academic and scholarly focus is in emergency medicine and medical toxicology. She plans to focus on teaching all levels of medical trainees and contributing to continuing medical education of her peers in these areas. Dr. Austin currently teaches the undergraduate medical curriculum through International Centre for Education (ICE), as well as undergraduate pharmacology and toxicology seminars. She is involved in teaching toxicology to postgraduate residents at academic and simulation sessions and has contributed to the development of clinical pharmacology and toxicology reading syllabus. In addition, Dr. Austin has presented locally and nationally in her area of expertise. She is an active member on the Division of Emergency Medicine’s Competency Committee and Exam Committee.
